Hayley Johnson, better known by her stage name, The Little Miss, has released her official unoffical music video to her song “American Dream.” At a moment in time when we’re drowning in the growing world of mind-blowing special effects and visual tricks it’s rather refreshing to go back to the basics.

She took the resources that surrounded her to create a very touching music video that has, without a doubt, brought her an enormous feeling of satisfaction that is worth far more than money.

Without further wait, check her video out below!

The Little Miss on her incredibly endearing and inspiring music video:

“In this political and social climate, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. At times, it can feel as though our votes don’t count, our voices go unheard, and that money and business rule all. It’s hard for the average citizen to feel as though they have the resources necessary to affect real change. I, at times, feel the same way about the music industry: utterly powerless. In almost any facet of modern life and industry, there will always be those with more money, connection or resources. This is why, after struggling to find adequate means to put together a music video, I decided to simply do what I could with what I had. I had footage of my friends and family on my phone and a computer (which is, admittedly, more than a lot of people have), and a desire to create something.

And so, this music video is quite literally that: footage taken from an app on my phone that I strung together in iMovie. It’s simple, but close to my heart and soul. It’s missing lots of loved ones, but still filled with memories and humans that I cherish. It’s a reminder that life doesn’t need to be grandiose and neither do our efforts as artists, friends or members of society. Connection matters. Presence matters. Intention matters.

If you’re feeling stuck, I urge you to do what you can with what you have. I may still be drowning in a sea of obscurity, but I feel as though I have some semblance of power over my art and my life. Little things add up. Let’s not lose hope.”
